Guthrie seeks a dynamic, patient-centered nurse leader to serve as Director of Perioperative Services for their flagship hospital, Guthrie Robert Packer Hospital and Avoca Search is proud to partner with them in their search. The Director of Perioperative Services provides clinical leadership and administrative oversight for Surgical Services, which includes Pre-Admissions, Prep/Recovery, Operating Room, and Central Processing. The position is an integral member of the nursing leadership team and works collaboratively with the Vice President Surgical Service and the Chief Nursing Officer to ensure clinical excellence and compassionate care.

The hospital is a Regional Level I Trauma Center, accredited by the Pennsylvania Trauma Systems Foundation, and is served by Guthrie Air, a regional aeromedical helicopter program. Guthrie Robert Packer Hospital offers a full range of diagnostic, medical and surgical services, including Guthrie Breast Care Center, Guthrie Cancer Center, Guthrie Cardiac and Vascular Center, Guthrie Musculoskeletal Services, Guthrie Imaging Services, Guthrie Specialty Eye Care, Guthrie Surgical Services, Guthrie Weight Loss Center, Level I Trauma Center, and Medical/Surgical and intensive care services. 

Robert Packard Hospital has 20 Operating Rooms (15 main ORs and 5 minor ORs) and 8 GI rooms and performs between 22,000 and 23,000 procedures annually. The OR suites have state-of-the-art medical equipment and operate a full range of procedures from same day surgery, orthopedics, urology, GYN, and bariatrics to cardiovascular/vascular including open heart surgery, trauma, and complex neurosurgeries. Most operating rooms have the latest anesthesia machines and OmniSite drug delivery systems. The OR suite also features a block room and two fully monitored beds with ultrasound machines to perform nerve blocks; cardio-pulmonary bypass machine; daVinci robot for robotic assisted surgeries; an O-arm for interoperative CT scans; a hybrid room featuring a fully functional radiology suite that serves as the home for vascular surgeries; and a room equipped with laparoscopic screens for minimally invasive and bariatric surgeries. 

The Ideal Candidate for the Director of Perioperative Services role will be a strong nurse leader with management experience in surgical services. The candidate needs a minimum of eight years’ experience in overseeing surgical services for a hospital or large ambulatory surgery center. The candidate will be a Pennsylvania licensed RN with a master’s degree in nursing, Healthcare Administration or Business Administration. Knowledge of EPIC systems, LEAN principles and experience preparing for quality survey are strongly preferred.
